The following is a message from Speaker Arlanna Ryf-av:
As Speaker of the Silent Conversation, I want to welcome all of you to our commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of New Gyr. We have worked hard to put together an event that recalls our past but looks towards the future; that reflects the diversity of our land and its people; and that emphasizes our commitments to inclusion and fair treatment of all – be they Innate, Evos, or Augment; be they Dawnlighter or Follower of the Tides. We are looking forward to a joyful, hopeful, peaceful celebration, and we hope that you all will join with us in that spirit.
I want to especially welcome those visiting us from off-planet. That you have come to our celebration demonstrates both the commitment of the homeworlds, colonies, and corporations to our planet and New Gyr’s importance as the newest homeworld to the rest of the galaxy. Your visit here honors us, and we hope that you take time to learn more about our culture, speak with our citizens, and of course, enjoy yourself. We know that if it was not for your empathy, compassion and help 30 years ago when your representatives opened their minds and hearts to a young group of refugees making an impassioned plea for a new place to call home after theirs been forever lost, that we would not be here today.
This celebration is not just about us, but also about recalling and continuing that spirit of joining together to help each other despite differences.
The events we have planned center around this spirit. To remember how the first members of the restarted Silent Conversation brought their stories, songs, and art to the other governments and convinced them our cause; we will be holding a cultural festival and competition on Friday night at 10 p.m. It will begin with a fashion show by the renowned designer M. Gossamer. Anyone is welcome to participate and no previous signups are necessary. We hope to have all the amazing cultures, from Agerre to Ze, represented as a symbol of how we can be our best when we celebrate our differences but do not allow them to divide us. Enterios has offered a cash reward for the winner of the competition, but one does not need to participate in the competition to take part in the festival. Simply let the judges know if you wish to take part before you begin your performance.
While the transition of power was peaceful, our new land was threatened with violence immediately by strange technology and quickly realized the dangers of too heavy a reliance on AI. Yet we banded together, standing side by side and protecting our new land. To remember the importance of those willing to fight and martial ability, we will be having a dueling competition on Saturday at 4 p.m. We know that this is controversial, and I am myself not a believer in any form of violence, but we ask that if you do wish to protest this, you do so in a manner that is not disruptive or dangerous to yourself or others.
As an important part of our new government, New Gyr is the first planet to ensure Innate rights. We believe strongly in the importance of training and responsible use of powers to better the world, and as an Innate myself, you can be assured that this will continue to remain important.
As part of New Gyr’s pledge, our first speaker and her husband, Lyra Ryf-v and Landon Starfall, started the Innate Academy. We are proud that our first class will both do a demonstration of abilities at 11 a.m. Saturday and then graduate after attempting to commune with the ancient AI at 2 p.m. We hope you will all join them in this exciting day!
Finally, I am very proud of the new Silent Conversation, and to be its representative. As the child of the founder of the new Silent Conversation and the first Speaker of New Gyr, I am so honored to be its head for this anniversary. We want everyone to get a chance to see how we run our democracy. To do that, we will have a public Silent Conversation meeting Sunday at 11 a.m. However, we know that some participants would like the opportunity to speak to the council on an individual basis privately.
